llms.txt is a proposed convention; it helps AI tools find your best pages but is not a ranking signal on its own. Pages still need readable HTML.

How to use it

Enter the site name and a one-line summary.
List links under “## Section” lines as “Title | URL | note”; put skippable links under “## Optional”.
Copy the result and save it as /llms.txt at the root of your site.

What is llms.txt?

A proposed convention, published at llmstxt.org, for a markdown file at the root of a website that gives AI tools a short summary of the site and links to its most useful pages.

What format does llms.txt use?

An H1 with the site name, which is the only required part, then a blockquote summary, optional detail, and H2 sections listing links as “- [name](url): notes”. A section called “Optional” holds links an agent can skip.

Will llms.txt get me cited by ChatGPT or Perplexity?

There is no published evidence that llms.txt on its own improves AI citations. It is cheap to add and helps tools that read it, but clear, readable HTML pages matter far more.

Where do I put the llms.txt file?

At the root of your domain, so it loads at https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt, served as plain text.
